What are balance pads for horses?

These special pads are used in horse training for balance, coordination and stability. Our pads are made of durable material and offer a soft but stable surface.

Balance pads are very popular in physiotherapy, which is why some people also call them 'physio pads for horses'. Many therapists use them to target proprioception (body awareness) and deep muscles with this form of training.

Since it is a very intuitive and gentle training that can be integrated into any stable routine without much time investment, it is also practiced by many horse owners.

How does the training work?

When a horse stands on a pad and puts weight on its hoof, the horse sinks gently into the pad. This creates an imbalance that it must constantly balance out. This can address physical and mental processes, including deep muscles and proprioception. This is often shown in a variety of body reactions, such as chewing. If the horse leaves the surface, the pad returns to its original shape.
